Privacy policy

• Your account: name, email, password (stored only as a one-way hash), title, country, institution, discipline and licence number if you gave one, and when you agreed to the terms.
• Your profile: bio, credentials, areas of expertise and, if you add it, a phone number. Your email and phone appear on your profile only if you choose to show them.
• What you post: cases, comments, messages, discussions, collections and the files and images you attach.
• Activity records: login sessions, who reported what, and a log of moderator and administrator actions.

• Cases and files are shown only to the people allowed by the visibility you chose (all members, your institution, or the groups you picked).
• Direct messages are visible to the two people involved. Group and private discussions are visible to the members of that group.
• Moderators and administrators can read a private case, message or discussion only when something in it has been reported, and each time they do it is logged.
• Your name, institution and discipline are visible to other members. You can leave the People directory from your profile. You can still be found through the cases, groups and messages you take part in.

We use one cookie, to keep you logged in. There are no advertising or tracking cookies and no third-party analytics.

We email you for things like account approval, password resets and activity you asked to hear about. Notification emails contain a link, never case details. Email is sent through an email delivery provider, which receives the address and message for that purpose only.

Data is stored with the cloud hosting and database providers we use to run the service. We do not sell your data or share it for advertising. We share it only with those providers to operate CaseChat, or where the law requires.

We keep your account and content while your account is active. You can retract or delete your own cases and comments yourself. To have your account and remaining data removed, or to ask for a copy of what we hold about you, contact us.
